AWE Track Edition Exhaust w/ Diamond Black Tips for MK7.5 Volkswagen Golf R

The AWE Tuning Track Edition Exhaust for the MK7.5 Volkswagen Golf R is designed, engineered, and manufactured in-house at AWE, handcrafted from CNC mandrel-bent 3″ and 2.5″ U.S.-sourced .065″ wall T304L stainless steel. The passenger-side valve and driver-side muffler are removed in favor of a clean straight-through design that locks the exhaust in a permanent valve-open state, delivering full-time, unfiltered volume and max gains of 12hp and 9ft-lb of torque at the wheels on stock software with a turbo-back setup. The system bolts on directly without modification and finishes with 102mm double-walled slash-cut diamond black tips.

Track Edition Exhaust

The Track Edition removes the passenger-side valve and driver-side muffler, locking the exhaust in a permanent valve-open state for full-time, unfiltered volume. It’s a loud, aggressive system, and returns based on sound preference are not accepted. For anyone who wants to dial things back later, an AWE Conversion Kit makes switching to SwitchPath simple.

Will the AWE Track Edition Exhaust store a check engine light or fault code on the MK7.5 Golf R? The Track Edition removes the factory exhaust valves, and when that happens the ECU stores what is known as a soft code. A soft code is not the same as a check engine light; it will not appear on the dash and it is not harmful. However, it will show up when the car is scanned with a diagnostic tool. AWE Electronic Valve Simulators, sold separately, plug directly into the factory harness in place of the removed valves and prevent that code from being stored at all. If regular dealer service or a clean scan is important to you, the valve simulators are worth adding.
Is the AWE Track Edition Exhaust too droney or too loud for daily use on the MK7.5 Golf R? On a stock downpipe, owners report a deep, aggressive tone that is noticeably louder than stock but manageable for daily driving, with drone that varies by RPM and speed and tends to settle as the system breaks in. With an aftermarket downpipe in the mix, highway drone becomes more pronounced; some MK7.5 owners running aftermarket downpipes describe it as intrusive enough to require addressing. AWE is direct about this; the Track Edition locks the exhaust in permanent valve-open mode and may be more than many drivers expect. It cannot be returned based on sound preference.
Will the AWE Track Edition Exhaust for the MK7.5 Golf R work with a front pipe from another brand? No. AWE exhausts are not designed to mate with aftermarket front pipes from other manufacturers. The system is built to work with the factory front pipe on the MK7.5 Golf R, and fitment with non-AWE front pipes is not guaranteed. For a turbo-back build, AWE’s own front pipe is the correct pairing to ensure proper fit and consistent tone across the full system.
Can I convert the AWE Track Edition to the SwitchPath Edition later on my MK7.5 Golf R? Yes. AWE offers a Track-to-SwitchPath Conversion Kit that adds the valved muffler section back into the system, restoring factory-controlled valve behavior through Drive Select and the factory ECU. If you buy the Track Edition and later decide you want the ability to dial things back at cruise or when the situation calls for a quieter tone, the conversion kit makes that change without replacing the full exhaust.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest.
