The AWE Tuning Touring Edition Exhaust with Diamond Black RS Tips is engineered specifically for the B9 Audi RS 5, built to bring out the full character of the 2.9TT with a deep, aggressive tone and drone-free cabin performance. Handcrafted from dual 3″ CNC mandrel-bent .065″-wall T304L stainless steel sourced in the US, the system includes downpipes and a precision-engineered X-pipe across all editions and installs as a direct bolt-on cat-back for a clean, straightforward fit. Touring Edition Exhaust

The Touring Edition runs a true dual 3″ T304L stainless steel configuration with a precision-engineered X-pipe built specifically for the RS 5’s 2.9TT, paired with AWE’s patented 180 Technology® to keep the cabin drone-free at cruise. The result is an aggressive, menacing tone across the entire range without the drawbacks at highway speeds. For RS 5 owners, this is the setup that delivers on both ends.

What is 180 Technology?

Exhaust gases leaving the RS 5 Coupe’s 2.9L engine pass through precisely placed ports and into reflection chambers inside the AWE 180 Technology® resonator. The sound waves those gases carry bounce off the chamber walls, and by controlling the size and placement of both the ports and the chambers, AWE determines exactly when the reflected waves re-enter the main flow. That timing generates a 180-degree out-of-phase wave that eliminates the problematic frequencies at the source. Science, engineering, or 180 Technology® by AWE; take your pick.

Does the AWE Touring Edition Non-Resonated Exhaust fit the facelifted 2020 or newer B9.5 RS5 Sportback? No. This system is built exclusively for the pre-facelift 2019 B9 RS5 Sportback and will not fit facelifted 2020 and newer B9.5 model year cars. AWE is direct about this across all authorized product pages; the B9 and B9.5 use different exhaust routing and mounting configurations. If you own a 2020 or newer RS5 Sportback, the B9.5-specific AWE exhaust suite is the correct system for your car.
Does the AWE Touring Edition Non-Resonated Exhaust drone at highway speeds on the B9 RS5 Sportback? With the stock downpipes or resonated downpipe options, the 180 Technology® resonator handles drone suppression well. An AudiWorld owner who installed the Touring Edition on their B9.5 RS5 Sportback confirmed no drone at any RPM level, with the system staying completely composed even in Sport mode at cruise. The non-resonated downpipe sections are a different matter; an AWE representative on Audizine confirmed that non-resonated downpipes do produce some drone, particularly just under the cabin at typical highway RPMs. The AWE non-resonated catback paired with resonated downpipes is the recommended combination for a drone-free result.
What is the difference between the Touring Edition and Track Edition for the B9 RS5 Sportback? Both editions share the same dual 3″ T304L stainless steel construction, downpipes, and precision-engineered x-pipe. The Touring Edition includes AWE’s 180 Technology® resonator in the rear catback section, canceling drone-prone frequencies while delivering an aggressive 2.9TT tone across the rev range. The Track Edition removes that resonator entirely for permanent, full-time, unfiltered volume. The Track Edition is known to get rowdy through mid-range acceleration and at cruising speeds and cannot be returned for noise-related reasons. AWE offers conversion kits to switch between the two without replacing the full system.
What performance gains does the AWE Touring Edition Exhaust deliver on the B9 RS5 Sportback, and does it require a tune? On a turbo-back setup with stock software, max gains come in at 5hp and 15ft-lb of torque at the wheels. Adding a piggyback tuner to the catback configuration pushes that to max gains of 8hp and 20ft-lb of torque at the wheels. No ECU modification is required to run the system; the gains on stock software are real and verified. The system also does not interfere with any factory emissions equipment, and AWE’s No CEL guarantee covers it when installed correctly.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less.
